Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final prophet in Islam and is highly revered by Muslims worldwide. He was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, in the year 570 CE. Muhammad’s father, Abdullah, passed away before his birth, and his mother, Aminah, died when he was six years old. He was then raised by his grandfather and later by his uncle, Abu Talib.
As a young man, Muhammad gained a reputation for his honesty, integrity, and wisdom, earning the title of Al-Amin (the Trustworthy). At the age of 40, during a period of seclusion in a cave on Mount Hira, he received his first revelation from Allah (God) through the angel Gabriel. These revelations continued over a span of 23 years, forming the basis of the Islamic holy book, the Quran.
Muhammad’s message emphasized the worship of one God (Allah) and taught moral and ethical values such as compassion, justice, honesty, and humility. He called people to monotheism and to follow the path of righteousness. He faced significant challenges and opposition from the polytheistic society of Mecca, but gradually a community of believers, known as Muslims, began to form around him.
In 622 CE, due to increasing persecution, Prophet Muhammad and his followers migrated from Mecca to the city of Medina. This migration, known as the Hijra, marked the beginning of the Islamic calendar. In Medina, Muhammad established a just society based on the principles of the Quran, uniting various tribes and promoting social justice.
Prophet Muhammad’s leadership expanded as he dealt with military campaigns, diplomatic missions, and guiding the Muslim community. Over time, many tribes and individuals embraced Islam, and the message of Islam spread across the Arabian Peninsula.
Muhammad’s teachings cover a wide range of areas, including religious beliefs, acts of worship, moral conduct, family life, social interactions, and governance. His example, known as the Sunnah, provides guidance for Muslims in all aspects of life.
Prophet Muhammad passed away in Medina in 632 CE at the age of 63. His death marked the end of prophethood, as he was the last and final prophet. Muslims regard him as the perfect example of a human being and strive to follow his teachings and emulate his character in their daily lives.
